Mushroom Cultivation Instructions with Inoculated Dowels

pegsSEEDING – INOCULATION
Using a drill, we bore each log from the perimeter towards the center, in a cross pattern and at a distance 5cm from hole to hole. It is recommended to disinfect the drill with some alcohol when drilling the next log.

Hole diameter: Same diameter as the dowel.
We hammer the dowels in with a small hammer.
We seal the hole with wax.

INCUBATION

• We place the logs in stacks (parallel or crosswise arrangement, preferably in a room or under a shelter).
• We cover the logs with nylon to prevent dehydration and to increase the CO2humidity. To limit infestation by wood-boring insects, if necessary, we spray. For poplar logs, you can wrap the log with plastic wrap (food film).
• We leave them until the wood whitens (usually 4-6 months) and the environmental conditions are favorable for fruiting (temperature <20°C, humidity >75%).

FRUITING
• We shock the mycelium (hitting, wetting). Striking the logs on the ground causes biological shock and "awakening" of the mycelium.
• We place the logs in a moist and shady forest (under evergreen trees).
• Usually, we place them upright with their base in soil or sand.
• We support them with horizontal wires or lean them against trees.
• Fruiting begins at the earliest in 6 months (softwoods) after inoculation and lasts up to 6 years (hardwoods).
